The following is a list of the most frequently asked questions in website design, development, eCommerce & SEO – please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have!

This is a common question and one that I wish I could answer easily. Our blog article on the cost of web design is a good place to start. In short it’s dependant on the type of site you require, the functionality it needs and the time required to create a look and feel (design) that aligns with your vision. We’ll do everything I can to fit in with your budget. The difference between a website that takes 1 day and a web design that takes 1 week is huge in terms of both the level of detail and the overall quality. It’s also worth keeping in mind that every additional function adds time to the design and development, therefore add’s cost.

Like all web design companies I work on an hourly rate and our quotes are calculated on that rate multiplied by how long I estimate the work will take. Once I have determined all your requirements I provide a quote.

As mentioned above this largely depends on how involved the job is, as well as how soon you, as our client, are able provide us with the information we’ll need to get the site going; copy, supporting information and pictures. A simple site can be up and running within 1 to 2 weeks. More complex projects will take longer. Once we’ve determined the exact project requirements we’ll provide a defined project timeline. I understand the importance of project deadlines and will always endeavour to meet (and beat) them.

Nope. After meeting with you to determine the job requirements I provide a fixed price quote so that you know exactly what you will pay. I always provide quotes prior to any work, and costs are clearly documented. In the cases where additional pages or content are requested to be added, or additional functionality is required by you, these will be charged at the hourly rate that is detailed in the quote.

Yes! Our standard sites are built on either the WordPress  platform. I provide a simple editor that makes updating your website as simple as updating a Word document. Easy!

A big fat yes. Without a doubt. Unlike some other companies I won’t hold your site to ransom. You’re free to come and go as you like. Our support packs provide ad hoc maintenance, long term SEO solutions or a simple month by month plan that ensures your site is always running on the latest platform version. It’s our goal to be as flexible as possible to suit the variety of businesses I work with.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of creating, designing and implementing strategies that are going to increase the visibility of your website in the search engine results pages (SERPs). All major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing have primary search results (organic results) that are ranked by what the search engine deems to be the most relevant content for the user.

SEO is one of the most effective ways to increase organic traffic and provide free, unlimited exposure for your website based on user search. SEO comprises of both technical and creative elements that can be optimized to improve organic search rankings, drive traffic and increase SERP visibility.

Local SEO is much the same as normal Search Engine Optimization, only with an added emphasis on the geographical component. A website gives you the opportunity to target international audiences, but for most businesses, your target audience is probably located in the same city as you are.

If you have a local business like a shop or an office, local SEO allows people to find you in real life. Even if you’re not actively trying to get visitors to visit a physical location, you can still target an audience that is located in the same geographical area as you.

Instead of trying to rank for general search terms related to your business, Local SEO puts an emphasis on ranking for search terms that drive local traffic directly to your business. You need to optimize your content for the city or area where your potential customers are located.

Yes, but it’s going to take some work.

Over the years, search engine optimisation (SEO) has developed an unwanted reputation as the ‘dark arts’ of internet marketing. A handful of shady marketers have engaged in corner cutting SEO techniques that have sullied the waters for the entire industry.

When done correctly, SEO should be the most powerful weapon in your digital marketing arsenal.

SEO is (and will remain through all of Google’s algorithm updates) essential to the user experience. Good SEO allows users to find, interact with, and absorb high-quality content at a greater rate than ever before.

If SEO hasn’t worked in the past, chances are something has gone wrong along the way. Here’s what might have happened:

  1. You worked with an Amateur – It can be almost impossible to distinguish between a good salesman and an SEO professional who knows their s&^t. We’ve seen numerous clients who have been ripped off by an individual or reputable organisation who claims to know how to “hack the algorithm”.
  2. You were given unrealistic expectations – If someone claims that they can put you on page 1 of Google for lucrative keywords for $499 a month, run, run very far away. We set ambitious, but realistic goals for your SEO campaign.
  3. You didn’t fully commit – If you think SEO is expensive, you should try Google AdWords. Google’s ad revenue eclipsed $100-billion USD in 2018. You know why? Because SEO is hard. Google is making SEO more difficult than ever, which means that in order to get results, you need to commit to the process. Getting to page 1 of Google isn’t free or easy, but it is definitely worth it.

There’s no exact formula. SEO depends on a myriad of factors which means that each case is different.

A large website with a good foundation and plenty of links may see results in a matter of days, while a smaller or newly established website may have to wait a few months. SEO is an ongoing process. Investing in SEO is investing in your long term success and sustainability as a business.
